ليس هذا نتيجة رضا عن الوضع الحالي، ولا نتيجة تفكير منطقيّ معقّد أوصلك إلى نتيجة أنّ الحفاظ على الوضع الرّاهن في مصلحتك. إنّه نتيجة القصور الذاتي، نتيجة إلف الوضع الراهن، والجهل بعواقب التغيير. ضع هذين معًا تجد النتيجة التي تعيشها كلّ يوم: أن تقنعَ بالوضع الرّاهن الذي لا يعجبك أهون عندك من أن تغامر بالتغيير، وتقاوم عاداتك المألوفة.
القصور الذّاتي هو ميل الأجسام إلى البقاء في وضعها الرّاهن. مثلًا: حين تكون السيارة مسرعة وتتوقّف فجأة، تميل أجسامنا باتّجاه الحركة الأصليّة للسيّارة (إلى الأمام). وكذلك حين تنعطف السيّارة يمينًا أو يسارًا تجد أنّ جسدك يميل في الاتّجاه الأصليّ. لذا، تغيير حركة الجسم وسرعته تتطلّب قوّة أكبر من قوّة القصور الذّاتي التي تحاول إبقاءه في وضعه.
وحين نفكّر في الأمر من هذه الزاوية، نجد أنّنا بحاجة إلى قوّة إرادة كبيرة حتّى نخرج من المستنقع الذي نحن فيه الآن. وأريد أن أطرح عليك الآن حلًا بديلًا ذكيًا، وسهلًا.
بدلًا من أن تتحدّى قصورك الذّاتي مرّةً واحدة، كوّن زخمًا ببطء يغلب أثره أثر القصور الذّاتي بعد حين. وسبيل ذلك أن تختار عادةً سهلة جدًا لا تتطلّب قوّة إرادة كبيرة على الإطلاق. لن ينتبه قصورك الذاتي إلى هذه العادة التافهة، ولن يقاومها. اجعلها أبسط من ذلك. وإليك مثال:
لنفترض أنّك تريد أن تبدأ بممارسة القراءة مثلًا وجعلها عادة يوميّة لك. لا تضع هدفك أن تقرأ كتابًا كلّ أسبوع، ولا كلّ شهر. اجعل عادتك أن تقرأ صفحة واحدة في اليوم. أو نصف صفحة. اجعلها عادةً أسهل من أن تتكاسل عنها. اجعل النجاح سهلًا جدًا لدرجة لا تقاوم. حتّى لو كنت عائدًا من يوم طويل ومتعب، ثمّ تذكّرت وأنت في السرير أنّك لم تقرأ بعد، ستسطيع القيام للقراءة لأنّها لا تتطلب جهدًا. فليكن هذا هو هدفك، أن تختار عادة سهلة لهذه الدرجة. ثمّ احرص على أن تلتزم بها كلّ يوم مهما كانت الظروف.
أنت هكذا تبني زخمًا تحت مستوى الرّادار، القصور الذاتي غافل عنه. وفي كلّ يوم يزداد هذا الزخم، وينمو، حتّى ستصل (بعد شهور عديدة، وربّما سنوات) إلى التغلّب عليه.
تصلح هذه الطريقة فقط في حال عدم وجود موعد نهائيّ عليك الوصول فيه. أي أنّك غير متعجّل لنتيجة معيّنة. السكينة الناتجة عن التمهّل هي مفتاح الصبر على النتائج، حتّى لو تطلّب الأمر ستّ سنوات للوصول، أنت لا تمانع. المهم أن تصل.
